Revealing the winning names

THE RESULTS ARE IN!
Wow. We asked and you delivered. You voted and now we can finally reveal the names of our three unique timepieces

Surprise!

The first round of pre-orders sold out even quicker than we expected. Many of you were disappointed to miss your chance to own a watch that defines a pivotal moment in Alpina’s history. After all, it’s not every day that you can say you helped design and name the watch adorning your wrist.

So we’re reopening for another round of pre-orders.

And to reward your impressive naming work, we’re giving you a 40% discount.

With just 100 discounted pieces available per universe, we think they’ll be snapped up even quicker this time.

We’ve also added the second-most popular colour variations for each watch, plus a black PVD case option for (air).

All pre-ordered (land watches) are ready to ship, while (air) and (sea) will be delivered in time for Christmas.

Remember, for each watch sold, we’re donating €25 to injured mountain experts via the Salomon Foundation.

We’re crafting your watch

FLAWLESS IS NO FLUKE

Two weeks ago we explained why manufacturing a fine Swiss watch takes time. When the machines switch off, it’s inspection time.

All components must be flawless. No exceptions. We check that they’re impeccable, both mechanically and visually. Any faults and we halt production, reworking components or restarting entire batches until they’re up to scratch.

Our community watch project is upcycling existing components, so they’ve already passed our exacting standards. This means the Land timepieces will be ready in September, with Sea and Air following at Christmas.

The only exception is our exclusive dials. We’ll put them to the test before assembling the watches.

Save the date

Stick around because we’ve got more updates – and surprises – coming your way.

We’ll reveal more in two weeks. For now, all we’ll say is we hope you’ve got some creativity left to help us with another task. You’ll want to make sure you don’t miss out on this.

What happens next?

Great things take time
You’ve designed three exceptional timepieces, now it’s time to bring them to life.
The long manufacturing process begins by sourcing the right raw materials and crafting them into components. Lead times are lengthy. In addition, we engineer our components precisely and finish them by hand. This means movements and cases can take up to a year to produce.
Luckily, you won’t need to wait that long. Reusing existing components means we can fast track production as they’re ready to be assembled. You’ll get to unbox them as soon as September for the Land watch, while Sea and Air will be ready in time for Christmas.
Fresh new dials
But there’s one component we’re creating exclusively for you: your chosen dials.
Remember the exclusive colours and styles you voted for? In the next three months we’ll be transforming stainless steel into your chosen dials.

It takes time to create perfection

YOUR DESIGNS ARE WORTH WAITING FOR
Production is well underway, and your watches will be ready very soon. It may seem far away, but it’s all part of the process!

The components

Producing watches is a complex business. Normally, manufacturing the components would take up to a year. This project is extra-special because we’re repurposing unused components into our three community-designed timepieces, so we can save a little time. But we still need around three months to produce new dials for our truly unique combinations.

Inspection

Next, we’ll meticulously inspect every single component, to ensure the flawless finish Alpina customers know and love.

Assembly

Then, our master horologists mount the hands and dials onto the movements, before encasing them. They thoroughly check each watch before adding the straps.

On their way

At last, the finished pieces are wrapped up with their documents, and safely couriered to their final destinations.

We’ve spent 138 years mastering our craft, and we take our time to ensure excellence. We promise, it’s worth the wait.

Let’s get moving

We’re about to start production, and over the coming weeks will guide you through each step. Our master horologists take time and extra special care over every single piece they make, but you won’t have to wait long – the Land watches will be ready in September, while Sea and Air will ship in time for Christmas.

Stay tuned
